The Office of Local Government (OLG) is responsible for strengthening the local Government sector, regulating local councils, and advising the NSW Government on local Government matters. We support the state’s 128 councils with the delivery of services to local communities. The OLG sits within the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, and is the key adviser to the NSW Government on local Government matters. The Fresh Start for Local Government Apprentices, Trainees and Cadets Program (The Fresh Start) provides councils, county councils and joint organisations with grants to directly employ apprentices, trainees, and cadets to roles which will counter existing skill shortages or meet community priorities.
